Sermon in a sentence:  What we want from God can reveal where we stand with Him.

Four examples of people who want something from Jesus—

#1  The CURIOUS want a temporary diversion—verses 12-19. 

#2  The QUESTIONING want answers to an intellectual puzzle—verses 27-36.

#3  The PRIVATELY COMMITTED want the benefits without the responsibilities—verses 42-43.

#4  The WHOLLY DEVOTED want only to show Him their love—verses 1-8.
